We are a UK registered charity aimed to provide support to females identified with autism in late adulthood. Over the last decade, it has become apparent that the autism experience in females differs from that in males. Women frequently mask their condition and lack of previous recognition of such ability in conjunction with a male-oriented diagnostic bias led to underdiagnosis or misdiagnosis of autism among an entire generation of females. This revelation has resulted in a surge of women receiving diagnoses later in life. We have divised a programme that aims to fulfill a current lack of female-oriented autism support. The programme was developed to account for late-identified autistic females’ specific needs. They are finding themselves in a unique situation of having lived a large proportion of their lives without knowing their condition.
